timorous beasties/

l// so I am sitting on the ground of an apartment in West Hampstead London in the dark... Sasha is asleep next to me so I am trying to keep the peace by pretending to sleep but I am far from tired. I AM IN LONDON!!!! I am soo excited I must be peeing twice as often as I did back home. I have just been going through travel shots of my last trip this way and stumbled upon the work of Timorous Beaties, I fell in love with their work in Glasgow when I was at the School of Art in 2005. They predominantly make designs for wall paper, "At first glance it looks like one of the magnificent vistas portrayed on early 1800s Toile de Jouy wallpaper, but closer inspection reveals a nightmarish vision of contemporary Glasgow where crack addicts, prostitutes and the homeless are depicted against a forbidding backdrop of dilapidated tower blocks and scavenging seagulls". Great stuff... can't wait till I actually own a piece of wall to cover with their stuff.... bloody rentals!!!

ron mueck/

m&l// we went to see the RON MUECK exhibition at the NGV today. It's absolutely amazing! the exhibition isn't very large in size, but then again it's very large in scale! the details in the sculpture's bodies are extremely intricate and accurate. can't even imagine how long the larger scale pieces would take to produce.

music video shoot/

m// i helped out at a music video shoot on the weekend for my boyfriends band RED ROCKETS OF BORNEO. these stills are from the AMAZING canon 5D mark II camera, using the canon 50mm lense. The quality and crispness is amazing!

everyday items/

m// I love these everyday details we in our busy lives tend to just use but not pay attention to. I've been collecting bread clips for a while. I think I'll eventually put them in a big frame on the wall, like a piece of art. Apparently (according to wiki..) the clip was invented by Floyd G. Paxton in the 50s.
Paxton was on a plane and after opening a bag of peanuts found that he had no way of closing it. He then used an expired credit card and hand-carved with a pocket knife the very first bag clip (this was of course before the time of high security before entering a plane..). A bit of trivia for you there...

charley harper /

l// so today I'm pretty keen on the idea of being Charley Harper. For starters... what a great name, and for mains... how incredibly lovely is his work? The man himself - "herein lies the lure of painting; in a world of chaos, the picture is one small rectangle in which the artist can create an ordered universe" I like that...

be mine/

l// found a packet of these old pocket dwellers by swizzles. They have been re-made to fit with the times, 'email me'... I am yet to find one that references twitter...
