The Sketchorialist

t/ here is my new blog venture. I think this one will last for a while (at least longer than a month). It's sort of a parody of The Sartorialist, but more a platform for me to share observations through drawing. Really into painting with gouache at the moment. I like the unpredictable effect it can have. It will continue when I'm overseas so keep an eye on it! x

egg on the wall /

L// I have always been intrigued by those 3 ducks flying through the living rooms of retro homes and have always wanted 3 eggs to grace the walls of mine, the concept amuses me. Apparently 3 ducks tend to signify a 'well-established, settled household', would 3 eggs mean the opposite? If so it's probably fitting. Perhaps it signifies that we will one day hatch into a settled household. These could potentially function as coat pegs. Not really sure of the scale, the smaller ones are actual size, perhaps the bigger ones are actual Emu size. Maybe they should go from small to big? hmmmmm. Let me sit on it... hehehe

L// Just when you thought I hadn't made deadline.

It's been cold so I've created another quilt and pillow set. The pencil has a pocket in it's eraser that holds the letters so you can spell out whatever you want. enough said I think. The pencil is a bit clumsy but hey ... it's human and very cuddly.

L// Introducing Miss Fenna Shay Hodson who joined our small tribe on the 9th of feb. We are smitten ... absolutely in love with this chubby little bean. And yes ... that is her sleeping on the table whilst Thom and I enjoy a coffee at our favourite cafe. Awesome.

three in a bed /

L// Ok so my new years resolution is to try and stick to producing one crafty item per month, and I am going to be kept accountable by fruity. The rules are that the project has to be fun, creatively satisfying and obviously completed by the last day of each month. For January I have made a quilt for Sasha, it's called three in a bed. So called because it can create three very different moods in one bed. I have made it so that the triangles flip and the pattern created can be all B & W or all colour, the reverse side is just a plain beige colour, for those days you just want to keep it simple and uncluttered. It could also be the three and a half in a bed because you can flip a few triangles and create something in-between B & W and full colour... baby was due yesterday!

L// This was a really enjoyable job I have just completed for a friend back in Melbourne. A book plate, now cast in bronze so he can go nuts in his library ...
